FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Q: I have ADD and a sleep problem. Are they related?

A: Of the many forms of ADD and sleep disorders, some share common neurological anomalies. I frequently have clients whom we treat for ADD comment that their sleep has improved. For example, one form of ADD is caused by an excess of alpha brainwaves in the front of the brain. This condition is often also found in clients who have problems staying asleep. They find that they wake after a few hours and cannot easily fall back into sleep. When we treat the ADD by suppressing the excessive alpha, sleep may improve as well.” p.150.
